ANNOUNCEMENTS

HEY!

It's been another year! How the hell is everybody!!!????? We're still over in Onalaska, getting ready for the hunting season. Just harvested my grapes...no, not for wine...for the best grape jam in the world!
Hope all is well and I don't have to wait another four years to see you all again! Take care!

Ray Heidel

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and I hope Santa brings everything you want. Be sure and spend time with family and friends.
Happy New Year to you too. Hoping everyone has a safe and prosperous 2012.
Mary Draeger Weber

How is it that a year - in itself - can take so long...and yet 40 of them can go by so quickly!
My thanks to all on the organizing committee for their time and efforts to put on a great reunion, and maybe a special mention to Bob Arn, when asked to handle a very difficult task - conveyed the right words.
In such a short time it's difficult to spend time with everyone and cover 40 years; however it was nice to be able to catch up with some of you.
I read this once, and it seems appropriate here:
May the hinges of your friendships never grow rusty.

Thanks

Guy Thomas

Classmates,

In order to ensure you receive important messages from our class web site, as well as messages sent directly to you from other Classmates, it's important you whitelist the email address noreply@classcreator.net (that's a .net, not a .com).

What is whitelisting? Whitelisting simply means you are telling your email program to accept all emails coming from our class web site and our Classmates. The technique for whitelisting varies by email program, but generally you will see the term "Whitelist", "Safe List", or "Safe Sender's List". This is where you want to be sure you have added the email address noreply@classcreator.net.

Class Creator, the system that helps us operate our class web site, uses the address noreply@classcreator.net when sending out email messages. Be assured that all emails sent through our site are valid — you will not receive spam email. Whitelisting noreply@classcreator.net is the single most important thing you can do to ensure you don't miss anything happening on our site or miss receiving your emails from your fellow Classmates.

Stop and take a moment to whitelist noreply@classcreator.net right now, and ensure you stay connected!

Sincerely, Steve

I know it's been said many times and in many ways but you folks who came up with, planned, and pulled off our Reunion last weekend are deserving of many Thanks and Congratulations! Everything was perfect, and more fun than I imagined. When I was heading home on Sunday I felt very glad I came and sad it was over. Thanks!

It's easy at this point in our lives to start feeling age creeping up on us, as we are all nearing the time when we will be able to hide our own Easter Eggs. I think it was Allyn, Sue Mann Wasley's husband, who had the best line of the weekend when I was muttering something about my hair turning grey..."It's all just a little more Chrome."

It was really great to see all of the folks who were able to attend. It was fun to see a lot of the individual spirits that were there in all of us so long ago still coming out after all these years. I hope to see even more of you not only in five years, but as we make our way through life. We'll be able to see if more "Chrome" has appeared, but the spirit of our youth will always outshine it.

Best of life and luck to all of you!

Ray Heidel

Hi Everyone so sorry could not attend the reunion, sure sounds and looks like from the pictures and the stories I have seen so far, was a great time. Many of the faces I am sorry to say I did not recognize. Looks like a great turnout and the weather sure was perfect.

Please continue to post the pictures will look forward to seeing them all.

Take care

Roger Mathisen:

Thanks to all that organized and made the reunion such a huge success. Susan and I had a great time. I was glad that I wasn't the only one that had trouble remembering people even after looking at their graduation picture. Some of you (including me) have changed a lot in 40 year, but then some of you look the same and I recognized you right away. I tried to get around to say hi to everyone, so if I missed you, I hope to see you in 5 more years. For those of you that did not make the reunion, you missed a wonderful time and lots of great people, so don't miss out on the next one. Thanks again for the great memories.

Oops.......see I knew I would miss mentioning people. Forgot to mention thank you to those who helped pick up the tab for the park and some of the beer, and the meeting place, and collecting door prizes, and I'm sure there were other things that I missed, but it was appreciated and would have never been pulled off if everyone didn't help bring something, and most of all attend or put bios on the website. Would love to get 100% participation on the bios. It's truly amazing seeing where everyone has gone or traveled, what professions they have been involved in, the number of children and grand children, etc. Did you know that one of our classmates should soon be a grandpa again? What a wonderful blessing and addition to their lives.

A great time was had on Sunday going to the museum. There were lots of class pictures from 1945, etc. One of the people involved with the museum made the comment that if we had a complete classroom photo, we could have it displayed there. Now I will admit that most of the time I feel like a spring chicken, (although the body might not agree with it,) but I'm not so sure I would be so proud of knowing that a "Museum" housed a classroom photo of us. Somehow I suddenly felt "old". It was a lot of fun seeing some of our HS teachers pictures from at least 20 years earlier, and the old Duplainville school which I attended for one month.

Seems to me it was mentioned that they are looking for additional $$$ to keep the website up and running. I for one have enjoyed touching base since the reunion with some of our classmates and look forward to continuing it. If memory serves me correctly they said it costs $9.00 a month. Now math was never my favorite subject but if we wanted to keep it going for 5 more years (through the next reunion at least) that means 5 years X 12 months = 60 months X $9.00 = $540.00 which divided by roughly 110 students = $5.00 a person and I think they asked that a check be sent to Linda Zimmerman/Class 71, 620 W Highland Avenue, Oconomowoc, WI 53066. $5.00 seems like a very reasonable fee that everyone could make for keeping up with your classmates. I would hope that as we continue down our journey we would also keep adding to our bios with milestones or accomplishments or addition of grandchildren, etc. May the Lord continue to bless us with many more great memories and times together.

Hi Everyone,

To those of you who weren't able to attend the reunion at the park, you missed a great time.

A special thank you to all of those who were involved with the 40th reunion. It's hard to believe it has been that many years. Special thanks to Jerry for getting the ball rolling. A special thanks too to all the other individuals who were involved from decorations, to tracking down the students, to arranging the HS tour, to setting up and preparing the food and corn, the DJ, and the list goes on which is why I won't mention other people's names as I would be sure to miss someone and don't wish to cause hard feelings. Let it be known it was greatly appreciated. The tour of the HS was phenomenal and brought back many memories. The park and conditions were great and it was nice having the park to ourselves. The name tags with our HS pictures on was a great help in recognizing those whose features might have changed a wee bit. A memorial was set up recognizing those who have gone before us, and recognizing those who have served our country and allowed us to be able here to celebrate these events was also great. Let us all remember those who are still serving our country and pray for their safety as well as those who are currently in the path of the hurricane. The food was delicious and no one could complain that they had not had the opportunity to sample so many delicious dishes. Thanks too for all of those who arranged all of the various and assorted gift baskets and certificates that were handed out. I'm probably forgetting something, but just wanted to express my gratitude for all the hard work and dedication that went into pulling this off. Looking forward to another reunion and hoping that more will plan to attend and share what they have been doing over the last few years since graduating.
Thanks again!
